The University Preparation Program (UPP) at the University of Tasmania is a flexibly delivered course designed specifically to enable adult learners to become successful university students. It provides new expertise, motivation and learning habits that are necessary to learn effectively. These new talents include academic reading, research and writing, as well as discussion, debate and presentation.
Helping adult learners start their university studies smoothly and successfully is the main aim of the UPP. Adult learners already possess valuable life experience and knowledge.
UPP helps to use these to:
- develop ways of reducing the problems associated with studying as an adult learner
- develop skills designed to make study fun and successful
- make sure that study has successful outcomes
