In an attractive and well fitted-out building designed as a multipurpose centre, services of all kinds are provided under the one roof for the Huon Valley community.
The Huon LINC provides office space for tenants, including Service Tasmania, Centrelink, and the Huonville Magistrate’s Court. The Library+Online is located within the Huon LINC.
Many of the services and tenants have clients in common. Individuals can discover services and information they had not been aware of.
With a number of training providers, IT training and literacy and numeracy support on site, Centrelink Customer Service Advisors are able to steer clients to work and education and training as appropriate. The synergies between Centrelink and the LINC are great.
Mission Australia, the Huon Valley Council, Office of the Employment Advocate, Australian Red Cross, Tasmanian Pensioner’s Union, Toastmasters are just a few of the bodies that are able to take advantage of attractive and well-appointed meeting rooms.
When the Magistrates Court convenes at the Huon LINC every Thursday, rooms that have been used for other purposes are quickly set up to become the court and the waiting room, with displays about programs offered at the Huon LINC. Two Friends of the Huon LINC (volunteers) provide assistance to the court and are able to promote services available at the LINC.
