Volunteers
Volunteer roles include computer assistance, roving assistant, friends @ court, liaising with local community groups, facilitating the Rock & Rhyme and Story Time programs for babies and toddlers, adult literacy support, home library service, maintenance, art galley assistant and reception. Volunteering at Huon LINC is conducted in a structured and professional manner with all volunteers having clear guidelines and position descriptions, including the opportunity to build on current skills and add to their range of duties. Volunteers for Huon LINC are recruited through word of mouth expression of interest and through forms which are provided to job networks. The volunteers successful in gaining a position undertake a one week induction process with the Program Support Officer, after which they are buddied with an experienced volunteer. Reviews of duties and participation are conducted after three months. Volunteers at Huon LINC are encouraged to discuss and plan their future learning needs and are assisted with job seeking and learning pathways. Where possible volunteers are sponsored by Huon LINC to attend training opportunities, which leads to Huon LINC having an informed and up skilled volunteer team. The team including all staff and volunteers have regular meetings and social gatherings to build on a healthy work environment.
